Pamper Yourself For Less… At Home!

Read my latest blog to find out how to pamper yourself (post holidays) at home, for less $$.

So.. now that the holidays are over the countdown has begun for the kids to go back to school so us Mommy’s can breathe for a minute. The holidays left my house looking similar to hurricane aftermath. Seems there is more to do after the holidays than there was to do before the holidays.

As I am sure we have all been taught- we must take care of ourselves first before we can take care of our families. Kind of like in the event of a plane crash- when the masks drop down we are instructed to place our own mask before trying to help anyone else (including our children) with their masks. This concept make very good sense if you think about it. It is impossible to keep a car moving without a well-maintained engine.

So with that being said… I would like to share some products that are sure to help you relax and recharge when you finally get those few minutes of “Mommy Time”. And not to mention these items are super-affordable.. a fraction of the cost of visiting a spa. And what’s more- I personally find it much easier to relax in the privacy of my own home. So… how to bribg the spa to you??

The Planet Spa Pampering Chocolate line includes a facial mask that I love. Now… I’m a BIG research fanatic. Before I commit to something or dive into anything.. I research. I mostly do this with dieting (I’m an expert at low carb.. I just struggle to apply in my own life). But I usually read on something for a day or 2 before proceeding. So I’ve researched about this chocolate mask. Just the words sound like an oxymoron. Why would you use chocolate on your face when EATING chocolate breaks out your face? ? Lol Well… I have found the following information about cocoa & cocoa butter:

– Chocolate is high in anti-oxidants.

-Chocolate contains anti-aging properties.

-Chocolate increases the production of collagen & lightens blemishes & acne marks.

-Chocolate promotes a healthy glow & hydrates & softens your skin, delaying the appearanceof lines & wrinkles.

-Chocolate is suitable for all skin types & is known to be one of the best ways to relax after a long week.

Planet Spa has several products, including Dead Sea Bath Salts & African Shea Butter Body Scrub. Click here to see all of the Planet Spa products & to read reviews to see what customers are saying.

Next up to help you unwind is the Senses by Skin So Soft in Stress Relief Aroma Therapy. This line of foaming bath bubbles, body wash, & 48-hour moisturizer soothes with the scent of eucalyptus and geranium. What better way to destress? Be sure to lock the door, light the candles, & grab your headphones. My favorite wind down music is Coldplay, but you put on whatever music or sounds you love to hear when spending your “Me Time”.

I have about twenty candles. Lol I have smells for every occasion. But if you don’t have a good supply of candles you should check out the candles by Avon. The holiday candles include fragrances like Lakeside Cabin & Woodland Retreat (2 of my favorites). These are still available, along with newer, non-holiday fragrances like Dark Roast & Salted Caramel. I, personally, won’t even fill the tub without lighting candles. I’m pretty sure it has been proven that a flame is relaxing. Ever sat by a bon fire? It is the coziest & most relaxing thing.

Last thing I want to mention when discussing pampering is FootWorks. Nothing will ever compare to getting a pedicure; however, FootWorks has products that you can use to pamper your feet for much, much less than visiting the nail salon.

FootWorks includes Cracked Heel Cream, Pumice Cream for exfoliating calluses, Arthritis Achy Foot & Muscle Cream, Antifungal Powder & Spray for Athlete’s Foot, Dual Action Pedi Peel, & much more. Click here to view the whole line of products & read reviews. I’ve learned that FootWorks is one of Avon’s best seller’s. I think mostly because these products are not available in stores & are much more cost efficient than the salon.

No matter what it is ir what you do.. I hope if you’re a busy mom like me that you take time occasionally for “Me Time”. The Holidays have been especially busy & crazy at my house. Sadly, I have not made time for any of these products as if yet; however, I definitely intend to within the next week or so. It is definitely time to turn down the stress & concentrate on nothing for a while- lock my husband & kids out (or send them out for ice cream after dinner) while I just exist for a while, in a warm bubble bath with zero responsibilities. Sounds amazing! I may have to do this tonight. Lol

2017: New Year’s (Beauty) Resolutions

Read my blog about New Year’s Beauty Resolutions and see my tips for setting goals & making plans.

Happy New Year! So we all have New Year’s Resolutions. Or, maybe we have become one of those people that refuse to make resolutions.. because we never keep them. Lol I’ll be honest. At the end of each year I think about a few things I want to do or do better next year. I’ll think about them for a day or two & then move on. It’s much too busy at my house to actually set goals & attain them. Or is it? I think this is a good excuse we all tell ourselves most of the time. & I am the Queen of this kind of thinking. After all.. keeping a full-time job (usually part-time) and raising four young boys all under the age of 10 keeps me pretty busy. So it’s incredibly easy to tell myself that it is just too busy to plan & track anything! Lol But I’ve seriously decided that 2017 is time to shape up! I have tons of goals this year.. & the wheels are constantly turning. They say a goal is just a wish unless you have a plan.

So now.. with all that being said- who really thinks about Beauty goals? I will be the first to say “Not me”. Why?? Because I certainly have enough on my plate to keep me entertained; however, I’m turning over a new leaf. This year I AM going to make new year’s resolutions for beauty. I am 34 years old.. but this skin isn’t getting any younger! Lol

So let’s start with skincare. Twenties, thirties, forties, fifties, or older… you should be taking care of your skin. My mother has pretty great skin & she has told me for years that she started using “night cream” in her twenties. It has to start somewhere. And even if you have great skin.. now is a good time to keep it that way. Currently I’m using some of these:

The Anew Vitale line from Avon is to revive your skin’s natural radiance. The eye gel cream is great for minimizing puffy eyes (if you live a rough or sleepless life like I do occasionally). The day cream and day lotion botg have SPF 25, which is great defense against the sun’s damaging rays (I live in Florida.. & I will be discussing SPF a lottle farther down in this blog post). Goal #1 for me- start using this product faithfully  (instead of when I have or make time). Click here to see the whole Vitale line & read reviews about what customers are saying. Also.. dont forget, Avon has the Anew UltimateAnew Platinum, & Anew Reversalist lines. There are skincare regimens for women of all ages.

Next, I wanna talk more about SPF. & things we put on our face because we WANT to. & we’re always sure to make time: Makeup. Now this is something I’ve never paid too much mind to, unfortunately. & certainly I should have been paying attention all this time, as I live in Florida. & the beach is one of my (& my family’s) favorite places. Many foundations do not have SPF. Can you believe it?! Goal #2- start wearing foundation that has SPF.

Click here to view the Ideal Flawless line by Avon, which has SPF 15. & the reviews are awesome! All aged women from 25 to 55 have used and love this foundation.

How about vitamins & minerals?

The reviews on the Vitamin C Serum are pretty impressive. I’ve just recently ordered & intend to start using this product, again in an effort to meet goals for 2017 & to take better care of my skin.

Smooth Minerals Powder Foundation. If you haven’t tried minerals before I recommed you start here. 771 reviews, with 89% saying they would recommend this product to others. Click here to read reviews & see all the shades available.

I don’t think we ever really think about it or realize that we’re kind of stuck with the skin we have. So it is definitely worth taking care of. We can’t “change out of it” likes clothes when we are tired of seeing it.. or we don’t like how it looks in the mirror. Think about your New Year’s Beauty Resolutions. Set goals. & make a plan.

My Weekly Favorites: February 13

Read about my weekly favorite makeup products that I’m absolutely in Love with!

So this week I started using 3 new products and I definitely feel the need tl share. My skin looks amazing!! Have a look:

I haven’t uses any eye makeup for several days because I just can’t get over how good my skin looks!!

So in addition to all my regular skin care products and the Vitamin C I’m still so in love with.. I’ve found some other products I don’t ever want to live without.

The new Anew Age Transforming 2-in1 Compact is incredible! The foundation goes on so smooth and it really does fill in creases and lines in my face! It also evens out my skin tone. These compacts are already pretty popular! Just read the reviews to find out how much women are loving this stuff!

Next up.. I’ve been using the Smooth Minerals Powder. Love, love this stuff! A little goes a long way… Don’t over do it. But again- evens out skin tone and smooths away imperfections like a miracle!

Last but not least- the True Color Makeup Setting Spray. Now.. I’ve never used a setting spray. I always thought it wasn’t necessary and honestly, thought setting spray was just for girls who wanted ro complicate things and maybe needed a little added drama. Lol Like.. “Who has time for the fancy-schmancy makeup setting spray??” I stand corrected. If you set your makeup with this spray just one time you will be hooked!! My face looks fantastic until the moment I wash my makeup off!! No need to carry a compact with you for ‘touch-ups’. The spray takes care of that for you- all day long!

If you would like to try any of these products I invite you to visit my eStore, where you can read reviews and check out the latest deals. If you’ve already tried these products I welcome your feedback! I’d love to hear from you! In addition, I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have or give my (honest) opinion on products you may be curious about. Just leave your comment here or click below and select”Contact Me” to send me an e-mail 💛

Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend…

Read my blog about feeling fabulous with inexpensive jewelry. Life is too short to not feel fabulous.

I love it when MY style finally hits the fashion scene. I think most women, except for models of course, are like me. They don’t spend money on products because they are “in”. They spend money on products they LOVE! So how great is it when the products you LOVE are finally “in”??

This season has so many things I love that I’m having trouble pacing myself. For me… there is something about dangling earrings and clinky bangle bracelets that make my mood better. They make me feel like a girl. The kind of girl that feels pretty and feels confident. The kind of girl that makes everyone around her happy, just with her smile. The kind of girl whose laugh is contagious. We all know girls. And there are thousands of words we (both men and women) use to describe girls. But let’s be clear… there is something about diamonds and jewelry that make me feel like the kind of girl that everyone wants to be. Or be with.

*If you have not found what makes you feel this way and what brings out this part of you, as a girl, then please begin your search immediately! Life is too short not to feel fabulous. We will all (especially girls) have days where we choose bad mood. Or negative thoughts. But life really is too short to spend most of your days this way. So begin your search. Or do what makes you feel fabulous as often as possible.

With that being said… I want to share some of the things that make me feel fabulous.

The Fireworks Collection is new. & I’m already in Love! This Fireworks Cocktail Ring has finally come around, to fit my style. Click here to view more info on the ring and pricing. & if you Love this ring as much as I do, make sure to check out the matching necklace, bracelet, & earrings here. Now… I definitely realize how flashy this ring is. & it is either going to be a love or hate relationship; however, if you have not tried flashy, costume jewelry before I definitely recommend trying it at some point! Again… it’s all about how it makes you feel. Feeling wonderful & fabulous cannot be duplicated or fake, but it does not have to be expensive.

earrings1Another trend I noticed has come back around lately to fit my style is the teardrop shaped earrings. There are only a couple reviews posted on these earrings, but I noticed more than one review mentions how these earrings are great for daytime working or hanging out OR for night out / date night. Click here to see the latest teardrop shaped earrings available. And if you Love teardrops make sure to check out the Sunrise Collection.

The sterling silver line of jewelry is still what I would consider costume jewelry; however, the prices are a bit higher and the silver is sterling. I have several of these rings from this line that I wear daily.

ring2My necklaces, earrings, & even watches vary each day depending on my mood; however, I have grown fond of the sterling silver collection and have several pieces I wear each day, in addition to my wedding set of course.

I, personally, love black onyx and dark-colored jewelry, which brings me to my last “feel-fabulous” jewelry collection.

The mark. Back Up Plan Necklace is gorgeous & can be worn three ways, to fit right in with your look. I love long, dangly necklaces especially in the winter when I get to wear sweaters and long-sleeve shirts (occasionally in Florida). Click here to see all of the jewelry by mark. And again… how convenient that this new line is out just in time to fit my style! 2017 is off to a great start, thanks to the designers (wherever they are) that are miraculously reading my mind!!

Be sure to check back, as there are some fabulous new pieces coming out soon. & I will say again: life is too short to not feel fabulous. & if you have never tried to feel fabulous with simple jewelry then I definitely think it is time you gave it a shot! It is cheaper than massages and lasts longer than pedicures.

Anew Clean facial cleansers Review

Read my personal review of the Anew Clean line of products.

So I feel the need to provide reviews on Avon products that I have tried & love. i have blogged about the Anew Clean products before; however, when my husband reminds me to order more because this product has become one that he loves as well, I feel the need to share.

So my house is probably like every other home with a husband & wife. he doesn’t have too much of an opinion when I buy things for home. & he doesn’t even mind that I spend money (while making money) on my Avon business. The products I know he wants from the store like his shampoo & his deodorant of course, I buy what he wants & what I know he will use.

My Husband: He isn’t a vain man. he isn’t full of himself. & he certainly don’t walk around with an attitude like “God’s gift to women”. However, all that being said, I did notice that he spends quite a bit of time in the mirror. Not brushing.. or combing.. or grooming.. but guy stuff. Lol & his skin is prone to blackheads. I (luckily) married a man who can’t stand blackheads. Or bumps of any kind… any where. So much of this mirror time was being spent on blackheads.

So when I first decided to try Anew Clean I ordered the trial sizes of all the different types of cleansers. Of course… these were for me & weren’t shared. After deciding which one I loved I placed an order for the Illuminating Rich Cleansing Foam cleanser for normal/combination skin.

Again.. he doesn’t pay no mind usually to what appears  or disappears. . so long as it doesn’t affect his daily life or activities. So there was no big discussion about a new product in the shower that I wanted him to try (getting my husband to try anything whether it is food or facial cleansers, is a difficult task). So you can imagine my surprise to hear his own review of the new facial cleanser one night when we were getting ready for bed. There was surprise in his voice as he told me how well he liked the new, Anew Cleanser. He explained to me that he had used it for a day or two & loved how quickly it cleared up his blackheads! The mirror time quickly decreased. Lol

Along with the order I had placed I got some more of the Micellar Cleansing Water. Upon hearing his love for the foaming cleanser, I quickly requested that he try the water. Of course.. this was to no avail, since he spends most of his life in a box. Lol

Another product I have found to be a must-have from Anew Clean’s line are the Facial Cleansing Wipes for removing makeup. These are excellent for busy Mama’s like me who have little time for personal care. I recently read that even if you don’t cleanse your face at night… that it is imperative to remove makeup before going to bed. I’m working on getting better at this.

The Anew Clean line has become very popular with my customers. & I welcome any comments or feedback / comparisons.

Fashionista: a devoted follower of Fashion.

I love being a woman… most of the time. & I love this little controller I have, so-to-speak. My house and my life generally feel like a train that has derailed and I have zero control over the direction it is heading or how bad the destruction is going to be, once the dust has settled. Between a full-time job and four full-time children (all under 10 years old)… things get pretty chaotic.

However, with that being said- there is one thing I can control and it, ultimately, controls my mood and my outlook on life (at least for a day). & that, my friends, is fashion. Laying around in sweat pants all weekend and curling up with a good movie or a good book is undoubtedly a perfect weekend in my mind sometimes. I would love to just be for a day or two. Just exist and have zero responsibilities; however, this obviously doesn’t happen very often. & let me tell you… it takes real talent to manage my home. It also takes a lot of time.

Weekdays are crazy. Most of the time I don’t feel that I have adequate time to breathe. Much less conquer the world. But I will tell you, & I feel that this may be true with most women, when I put time and effort into how I look for the day (not for anyone but myself)… I feel so good. I feel prettier and happier, & this makes for a prettier and happier day. My patience at work and home usually lasts a little longer and there’s a bit of peace inside, because I gave me some time today. A few extra minutes in the mirror or with the closet choosing something that will make me feel fabulous! I’ve noticed lately that I find myself “dressing up” more often… mostly to improve my mood. If you have not tried it… you definitely should.

Lace-Detail Asymmetrical Top

I usually wear this top with black and gray leggings. & the term I use to describe how I feel in this outfit is “Steven Tyler’s Girlfriend”. If it’s warm outside, I wear with sandals… cold I wear black boots. I love this shirt and have actually gotten a lot of compliments on it. It probably helps that it is an instant mood elevator for me (selfie below). To order this top now, click here.

fashion4I feel amazing in this top, if you can’t tell.

I also don’t know what it is about skirts or dresses… but they seem to instantly make me happier. I don’t wear them very often. But occasionally, a sun dress or skirt feels right and I’m almost never sorry for it. The skirt below is so cute and looks amazing with heels.

Who knew? We don’t need mood stabilizers or prescriptions or therapy. Of course, looking cute is not free. And not always cheap. But definitely worth it. Sometimes I feel like I am just existing, and not really living. I have a personal goal to start doing small things like taking more ‘Me’ time in the morning to ‘look’ better… but not for looks. But it’s that easy for me to change my whole mood. Too bad it doesn’t solve any of the other problems we have in our daily lives… like getting the laundry washed and dried and the dishes put away! LOL

70.  If a child wets the bed, spray the bedding and sheets before washing and will give it a fresh clean smell.
71.  It keeps bromine and chlorine from corroding metal and keeps the top of a pool pump filter lubed for easy opening.
72.  Use Skin So Soft in an oil burner outside to repel bugs.  I use the ones with the little dish on top and a tea light below.  Just put a capful or so of Skin So Soft into the dish and light the tea light.  Your patio will smell great; it works better than citronella candles, and no citronella smell!

73.  It’s a great insect repellent for your pet. (As recommended in “Outdoor Life” and “Field and Stream”). (My own dog, Takoda, has his own bottle of Skin So Soft creamy body wash… not only does it repel fleas, but it is gentle for his sensitive skin!!!)
74.  Mix 5 parts water, 1 part Skin So Soft and mist on animals. Brushing it in makes their coats gleam and keeps insects off so the animals don’t fidget in the show ring.
75.  Mix in your pet’s bath water. It takes the fleas off of them…and in between sprays them with the 5 parts water, 1 part Skin So Soft mixture to help keep them off.
76.  Rub on your hands before and after working with your pets and farm animals. It will remove the strong smells.
77.  Black Fly Spray For Dogs: Use as a spray or a dip. 1 cup Skin So Soft, 1/2 cup liquid detergent and 3 gallons of water.
78.  For dog’s dry skin mix 1 tablespoon of Skin So Soft per gallon of water and use as an after bath rinse. Or spritz your pet’s coat once per week.

79.  If your dog should get tar or asphalt on the pads of their feet rub on Skin So Soft and then wipe off.
80.  Flea Bath: Use a flea and tick shampoo. Rinse, rinse, rinse so no soap residue is left. Follow with final rinse of 2 gallons of water mixed with flea dip and 1 capful of Skin So Soft. The Skin So Soft helps replace the oils lost in bathing and has the added benefit of repelling insects.
81.  Flea Repellent: Avon’s Skin So Soft Bath Oil. 1-1/2 ounces per gallon of water; used as a sponge-on dip (or as a spritz) has been tested and proven to have significant, but not complete, flea-repellent activity for a 6-day period. It should help those dry coats, too.
82.  It works great on animals with dry skin.

83.  Use the following on horses and on dogs when necessary. 1-cup Avon Skin So Soft bath oil 1-cup white vinegar 1-cup (or more) water 5 cc of essential oil of citronella (from the health food store NOT the type you burn to keep insects away that is available in a drug store) Mix in a spray bottle. Straight Skin So Soft works well for mosquitoes too but really makes your dog greasy.
84.  (Barns) Use as an inexpensive fly control spray or a diluted mix of Avon Skin So Soft in water can be sprayed on barn walls and floor to discourage insects from hanging around or to eliminate them before putting in the new bedding. As time permits, and if you can keep your goats out of the barn for a few hours – let the barn stand and air out before re-filling with bedding.
85.  Rub on your hands before and after working with pets and farm animals, takes away pet odor.
86.  A natural way to help cats with flea problems and flea allergies is to rub Skin So Soft into the skin. Fleas don’t like it either! Spread the word!

87.  Cats: SKIN SO SOFT IS SAFE FOR FUR. Don’t overuse the Skin So Soft. Use the lotion, and rub it into the skin, not more than every few days. Common sense is the rule. You can check with your vet to be sure if it’s okay…

88.  Skin So Soft can be used as a hoof polish. This will put a nice shine to the hoof without drying it.
89.  Skin So Soft can be used as a muzzle, eye, and ear enhancer. Skin So Soft works great and still helps keep bugs away.
90.  Horses that have allergies and also get dry skin very easily can get baths in Skin So Soft. Bathe her like normal and then put a capful of Skin So Soft in a 5-gallon bucket of warm water and sponge this all over her. Her coat dries silky soft and she quits itching.

91.  It removes tar spots from the car without damage to the paint.
92.  Use it to clean vinyl dashboards, seats, and tops. It not only cleans, but also keeps it soft and helps to prevent any cracking.
93.  After washing your car, use it as a tire dressing to keep them looking like new.
94.  Put some on a small washcloth and leave in the car to help keep the air fresh and clean.
95.  Wipe down vinyl surfaces inside your car. Cleans nicely and removes smoke odors left by cigarette smokers.
96.  It gently cleans heavy grease and oil from skin and nonporous surfaces (great for Mechanic’s Hands).
97.  It removes tree sap.

100.   Spray it on the outside of the tent, especially near the door & windows and it keeps mosquitoes away! (Also… be sure to check out Bug Guard, made by Skin So Soft. This gentle bug repellant works using picaridin instead of deet!!!)

If you still aren’t sold or you didn’t find one single thing in the hundred listings above… be sure to check out customers reviews of Skin So Soft by clicking here. The original Skin So Soft bath formula has not changed & that is one of the biggest pro’s in the reviews. The labels change, of course- but the Skin So Soft formula being sold on my web site right now is the same one that was being sold 20 years ago!

Also… keep in mind that Skin So Soft has several lines of products for you and for your family. In closing, I would like to add my own, personal favorite use of Avon’s Skin So Soft. Yes, I do use the gel and creamy body wash, as well as the original Skin So Soft bath oil after shower (especially during the winter)… I also use the radiant moisture Skin So Soft lotion (I have one at home and one at work) and yes, the dog has his own bottle & it has done wonders with his sensitive skin; however, my very favorite product by Skin So Soft is the Bug Guard. Not only does it work, but it is safe to use with my children. I keep at least one bottle in my truck… and at least one bottle in my husband’s truck. The Deep Woods brand of insect repellant, which uses deet as their active ingredient, specifically instructs that as soon as you are inside and away from insects you should remove your clothing. Picaridin is much safer to use with my family.
